You've heard that root canal front tooth treatment can be painful and you want to know what to expect. The good news is that you can put your mind to rest. Despite all the stories about how painful they are, the procedures are generally not that bad.

An overview

The tiny canals in the root of a tooth sometimes become infected. If the pulp of the tooth is also infected, inflamed, or otherwise damaged, it must be removed using what is often called a root canal. The goal of the procedure is to save the patient's tooth by removing the infected or damaged pulp, treating any infections present, and then filling the empty canals with a flexible plastic material called gutta-percha. The tooth itself is then filled or crowned. In most cases, a crown is preferred because the treatment weakens the tooth and helps the crown restore strength and prevent cracking. Usually the whole process requires one or two appointments.
